Living in Denver

Denver is the state capitol of Colorado and the largest city in the state. The city lies minutes away from the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, exactly one mile above sea level, thus its nickname the "Mile High City". The city boasts four distinct seasons, making it the perfect arena for all sports: mountain climbing, skiing, hiking, fishing, biking, kayaking and more.

The city's location between the large cities on the West Coast and the booming Mid-West cities, makes Denver one of the nation's key points for trading. There are several large companies that are either headquartered in Denver or have significant operations in the city. The largest owner and operator of apartment communities in the U.S., AIMCO, is headquartered in the city, along with Quiznos, the Wright & McGill Company, Scott's Liquid Gold, Inc., Chipotle Mexican Grill, Ball Corporation, and Molson Coors Brewing Company. Companies with significant operations in Denver include Dish Network Corporation, Halliburton, Comcast, and Smith International, among others.

The Mile High City is ideal for the nature lover and sportsman, with plenty of outdoor activities to do on and off the mountains. The sports fan can also stay busy in Denver, as the NFL, NBA and MLB all have franchises in the city. The Broncos, the Nuggets, and the Colorado Rockies have all been well received by the residents of the Denver area. Many of the games are played in front of sold out audiences, even when the home team isn't on top of their game.

Areas of Denver like its oldest neighborhood, the Lower Downtown district [LoDo] and the South of Colfax area [SoCo], are popular nightlife destinations for residents and visitors alike. The LoDo district is not only a great neighborhood for a night on the town, but it's steeped in history and is home to some of the city's main attractions like the Pepsi Center, Coors Field, Cherry Creek, the Wynkoop Brewing Company, and the Children's Museum of Denver. The city also has many nationally recognized museums, art galleries, theaters, event venues, parks, and restaurants; making it a great destination for vacations and an even better place to live.
